Newport Beach Film Festival

Newport Beach Public Library Foundation will continue its Community Partnership with the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2017.  This year, we are proud to co-present the movie Brave New Jersey.  Please join us in supporting the Newport Beach Film Festival by attending this exciting—and surprisingly timely—film.

Film details:

Think “FAKE NEWS” is a new phenomenon?  Think again.

The year is 1938 and it’s the eve of Halloween in small town Lullaby, New Jersey. Orson Welles is about to deliver his soon-to-be-infamous radio broadcast “War of the Worlds." What he didn’t predict was the mass hysteria that ramified across the nation as millions of Americans actually believed that Martians were invading the US. As the citizens of this small New Jersey town are faced with what they think is their last night on Earth, their lives will change forever.  What do you do when you think you have one night to live?  What happens the next day when you learn it was all a hoax?   It's an end-of-the-world alien invasion movie where the world doesn’t end and the aliens never show up.

The ensemble of notable actors include two-time Emmy-winner TONY HALE (Veep, Arrested Development), HEATHER BURNS (Miss Congeniality, You've Got Mail), ANNA CAMP (Pitch Perfect, True Blood), DAN BAKKEDAHL (CBS's new hit comedy Life In Pieces, The Heat),  MEL RODRIGUEZ (Last Man On Earth, HBO's Getting On) and SAM JAEGER (Parenthood).
